Seems there were some Season 2 haters on here. I thought it was just as good as the first.

1. Ana Lucia sucked. I also don't like that actress. Hated her in Avatar as well.
2. frick Michael. He's a total douche who shot two hot chicks for no damn reason.
3. Where did they find this plane load of people? Holy shite. Is the general public really this fricked up?
4. Mr. Eko is bad arse.
5. What the hell happened to the British guy that ran out of the hatch? MFer just disappeared.

ETA: Nevermind. British dude just showed up in the season finale.

the showrunners agree with you, initially, the idea was for her to have a much bigger role in the series

I don't hate Season 2, it's just the season where the formula starts to wear thin and the flashbacks aren't nearly as good. Only Eko's, Desmond's, and Sayid's back stories measure up to the bar the past season set. Plus the Hatch gets a little old towards the end. And of course Michael totally blows, I don't think the Season Finale makes any sense at all, and it has the worst episode overall with "Fire + Water"

It's good, introduces some great characters, and moves the mythology along. It just happens to not be as good as the other 5 IMO. It's really a compliment to the show itself if this is the worst it has to offer. If I were to rank the seasons:
