I want to see it as well, even though I'm not exactly sure what is about.

I hope this is one my wife doesn't want to see, so I can maybe go see it by myself without having to get a babysitter.

I hear that. It's $100 if the wife and i go to the movies, between the babysitter, tickets, popcorn, etc.
Makes movies like avengers and Jurassic world not seem that good. I wanted to kill my wife for wasting money to go watch that stupid arse Divergent crap.

Looks like black hipsters in the 80s doing hipster things.

I skimmed over a review earlier for it and what I got from the light reading was that it's about three current day nerdy black kids (one of them is like hispanic or Caribbean and claims to be 1/14 black) who are obsessed with the 90's black culture and their journey to try and fit in. At least that's what I got haha. Kind of like a Superbad, but for black people.

Could be wrong, but that's just what I got from it.

Nerdy black kid and his friends get invited to a party by a hot girl, turns out it's at a drug dealers place. They have debate on whether to go, end up somehow getting lots of drugs in his backpack and doesn't know what to do. That's how Rick Fox explained it on the radio today

That really does sound like a black Superbad.

Just saw it and while it was decent, it is not at all a black Superbad.

It's pretty good, attempts to address some hood stereotypes as well as some white vs. black stereotypes but I don't think it does the greatest job of it personally. They probably think it's really deep but I didn't really see it that way. A relatively interesting storyline and some funny parts as well.

It's essentially a coming of age movie complete with a couple of cliches. "It's our senior year" and trying to get out of league girl to prom.

Again, definitely not a black Superbad IMO. Closer to breakfast club.
