Havent finished the season yet, but all of this cant be real life. Parts of the confrontations have to be for tv. You have the one white center that everyone spoke great about, and seemed like a genuinely great kid, and out of nowhere he is yelling at the head coach during that game? I dont believe that.

The head coach seems like a fake, little, mental midget. He aint shite, but just because he is from Compton, he thinks he is Suge Knight or something. That band geek could probably put him on hi arse.

I do love how they spotlight these kids, and I assume its summer before the season when they interview them, and all of them are saying they are going to make it, they are going to do right for their family, and when there is one ounce of adversity, they give up and try to find the easy way out.

I've never been a guy that says I could be a better playcaller than a college football coach, but I could be a better playcaller than this Coach Brown retard.

Dude literally got coaching instructions from his punter in ep 3.

I just finished the second to last episode. This is a poor version of the first two seasons of LCU. The teacher, who they're trying to parallel Ms. Wagner, is crying over her ancestors being oppressed and dying over trying to learn the alphabet and higher education. This country has provided opportunities to the ones that want it for a long time. The SJW and entitlement mentality makes me sick. All of these guys have a chance to get an education and go to the next level, but most on this documentary show they don't want or care about an education or putting in the work to get better to go to the next level.

I finished it last night, along with the follow up episode. The head coach is a “frickstick”, Malik is a complete bitch, and I feel for everyone else in the program. Britney from season’s 1&2 has done well for herself, and so has most of the other kids. Isaiah, well his life is over as far as football goes.

It's pretty obvious her bias is black men, but I don't have an issue with how she's going about trying to change the culture. Her argument with the players on n***er was well done, and drove the point home.

All I have to say is, it’s one thing to say frick. It loses its meaning after you average the use of the word 3 times a sentence.

It's very easy to spot on this board who has never struggled or has never dealt with kids who come from these kinds of situations. It's a borderline miracle that some of them even make it out at all.

What? His father wasnt around. His mom was in jail for four years. His cousin was murdered. His brother is in jail. He was poor and surrounded by people with the same exact problems

Now you tell me, what are the odds that he would make it out of that environment?

Pretty low honestly, but you overlook the fact the he DID GET OUT of that environment. Granted it wasn't to Stanford but he was at a CC playing football having his education and meals paid for. He had a caring mentor teacher that truly took an interest in his well being. At this point his utterly crappy past can't be held responsible anymore since he's on a completely different path. Yet...he goes BACK to that shitty dump of a situation you described. At that point it's not really his environment to blame IMO.

Listen to all those kids talk about the obligation they feel to their shitty families. The put the well being of their grandma, their aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, etc all on their own shoulders. That's a lot of pressure. To one person not playing at a Juco means they may not get a scholarship to D1, to a guy like Bobby Bruce it means that your nephew will probably end up selling crack and your grandma won't be able to get medicine for her diabetes, and so on. That pressure on an 18 year old kid living across the country from everybody they know is indescribable. On top of all of that, he's dumb as hell and went to an awful high school. He literally said he had no idea where to put periods when he wrote. He just looked at his paper and randomly placed them.

He's absolutely an idiot for getting arrested and blowing his shot, but I think it shows a real lack of empathy to not realize that he's 100% a product of his environment.

Crazy how JB calls himself an offensive savant in the first episode. They are so unorganized and he just picks plays out of a hat. Malik Henry is s true piece of shite but that’s only amplified by the fact that he’s had real coaching before and he sees right through JBs bullshite. Can’t play hard for someone you don’t respect and JB creates that environment

There’s no way in hell any team takes a chance on Malek Henry after seeing this. That kid is a worse version of John Franklin in just about every aspect

yes. he did. but that doesnt change the fact that his home is what it is and that doesnt change the fact that his family members and friends didnt make it out. whenever he would go back, he would always have more issues to deal with than someone like malik. i can think of three people highlighted on this show that had similar/same issues as bobby. rollie, isaiah, and bobby. two out of those three have ended up in jail when they went back home

it should also be pointed out that she is probably the first person outside of football and whatever semblance of a family he had growing up that actually gave a fricking shite about him. let that sink it. how shitty has that got to be? think any of his teachers growing up told him he could amount to anything? ever think he had someone to show him how to navigate the world when he was 12 or 13? think he ever had anyone tell him he could actually do something other than play football? i bet she was literally the first person who ever told him he was smart and capable of doing something other than football. that does a lot for someone developmentally and that doesnt just change over a few months

I’ve tried to get through the first episode but every other word is MF or the N word . It’s a tad excessive

It doesn’t fit his narrative and assumes that he’s the only football player, a quarterback at that, that’s self centered
