I know that eventually they'll leave the Mississippi JUCOs but I think that the fact that they are in Mississippi makes the series that much more compelling.

Mississippi kids go through more crap than Kansas kids can even dream about.

If you are that opposed to taking a few hours to learn about a culture that you are unfamiliar with, you are not nearly as smart as you think you are.

I feel like Buddy is the Abby Lee Miller of football. I'm not saying he should never yell at them but that seemed to be his only trick and I agree with your sentiments. He may be good at the mechanics of football but not a well rounded coach

That's why he is a JUCO coach, a most players would get tired of the act and rebel if they were there four or five years like a regular big program. It would just get old after awhile.

frick coach Buddy. I can't stress this enough. He's a terrible coach

you can not like him and still realize that he is not a terrible coach. He's won several national titles and technically hasn't lost a game in the last two seasons when playing with a full team. How does a "terrible" coach do that?

As opposed to last season when he would open up every sentence with "you mother fricker" or some derivative of that.

Isaiah and Kam drove me insane. Just seemed like they wanted the success without any of the work. Isaiah I know had an injury, but it seemed like he was milking that shite at the right times, maybe Im wrong though. Kam was a POS. I hate how coach Stephens tried to be a "good guy" when he's not. Saban is a fricking prick, but he wins, so just own it and tell everyone to stfu. Best two by far are Ms Brit and D-Line coach. D coordinator seemed really incompetent. And I also felt bad for Coach Wood, hes a good coach and a good guy.

Same with the academic counselor. She just took a job as a HS counselor in Michigan. Really?

Actually - She just started her own company called 10 Thousand Pencils. It's services include:
quote:

- Academic Evaluations/Planning: 10KP evaluates existing transcripts and identifies potential eligibility/graduation risks; creates academic plans for each athlete; offers strategies for academic success moving forward.

- Academic Support Consulting and Training: Brittany Wagner conducts a two day on-site visit to the institution consulting with advisors, counselors, faculty and/or staff. During this time, she familiarizes herself with the processes, systems and structures already in place via interviews and observations. Brittany then gives strategies on how to improve the services already offered, how to better work with two-year transfers and at-risk student-athletes. Processes and strategies include: Advising/Counseling, Reporting/Monitoring/Documenting, Study hall/Tutoring, and Mentoring. Following the on-campus visit, Brittany remains on retainer in an advisory role for a 5-month time period.

Basically - She's reaching at-risk students and student-athletes earlier in their trajectory.

I'm guessing she's happy helping kids skip the "Buddy Stephens Step" on the road to a 4-yr college.

I played juco ball in Mississippi and can tell you from experience this show isn't embellished at all. It's a group of players that are either too small/slow for major D1, can't make the grades, or got into trouble. Most of the ones with D1 aspirations are there to make a highlight reel. Dorm light was like living in the projects.

Gonna be interested to see how it goes at a different location. I think EMCC is played out so I'm happy to see somewhere new

I know it was just one episode, but the time that they spent at the winless school was more interesting to watch from their perspective, that the entire season in Scooba.

I don't see where you pick this up from, she seems to be more involved in those players lives than the coaches are.

In fact, I don't remember seeing much, if any, interactions between the coaches and her in regards to class or grades.

I hope the girl and her parents also understand you can't raise your fist and hit whoever you want and not expect something to happen.

Well it all turned out great for her minus the punch. She is a white female victim which plays perfect into what society wants young white females to be. shite, she was made a celebrity for a short time, all because she is young, white, and was assaulted by a black male.

I don't recall there being anyone calling for her to accept any, if not most, of the responsibility for the altercation.

Yeah, she is definitely partly to blame. The way I see it, if that had been two girls or two guys in the same situation, would just one of them have been arrested and kicked out of school? No. Either they both would or neither.

Why? I mean, the way he treated his OC in the last episode was awful, but his style of coaching works and gets kids that want it back to a big school.
