I'd say 90+% of the movie going audience could give a rat's arse about loyalty to DC or Marvel, its just about putting out entertaining movies. Suicide Squad and BvS were shite movies, the little butt hurt rolltide can do all the mental gymnastics he wants to argue they're good but they sucked.

completely agree. I don't know anyone that wants to not like a batman/superman movie. They are what they are.

Can we talk Falcon for a minute? So they steal the wings, he flies around wrecking shite, & the government/military does nothing? I know he said they used them on rescue mission in ME, but sounded like a prototype also. If they were that effective, why not outfit more soldiers w/them? Just bugged me

You mention several things I hadn't thought about. Completely agree with your assessment of Crossbones and Falcon. Appreciate it!

Right. Despite all of the warning signs I was excited about BvS, it's Batman and Superman, they can't possibly frick this up...wrong.

Black Widow is one of the greatest covert agents in the Marvel Universe. Let's just assume she stole it and got out leaving nothing behind. Remember, she pings Cap easily earlier in the film, she's completely hidden from Tony in IM2, etc.

The core action in TWS happens in less than 48 hours, not really enough time to get an investigation moving, even with Falcon flying above DC a couple of times.

Because they are probably expensive,

And there was at least 2, mentioned in TWS, and one of them died in combat, so maybe they weren't THAT effective, outside of Sam?

I mean they cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Surely you knew something was up then.

I came away with "God, it must suck to be Superman or Batman, these guys are just fricking miserable".

This is why I like BvS, outside of Eisenberg. After awhile, it really would suck to be them.

Superman shouldn't be a miserable character though, so the movie is basically fricked from the start.

True, but Snyder doesn't understand why, so this story wasn't compelling. Motivations, arcs, development, all just terrible in BvS.

Plus, as OML says, Supes is not the character you evaluate this with. Batman? Sure. John Stewart, maybe. Barry? Maybe.

Not Superman. And that's actually the core idea of the character: Despite of the potential of it sucking and the weight of the world on his shoulders, Superman is still a positive, steady force for good. Snyder doesn't understand that.

In what possible way would it suck to be Superman?

I get ya, but as more Superheroes show up in more movies, you'd think the military would fast track few more sets of wings. It wasn't Stark tech was it?

Hence Civil War, becoming an official part of the Government/Military was exactly what was happening for the Avenger Initiative. And remember, Tony doesn't want the government involved until Civil War.

Unclear, although Falcon got upgrades for both Ant-Man and Civil War that were Stark tech.

The overwhelming feeling of responsibility to save everyone, everywhere, at all times, even though it's impossible. The constant judgment from the public when you can't do what they expect you to do. I thought they did a good job of conveying that message in the movie.

Damn, this thread got crazy Has there ever been any other film that gets as much discussion as BvS does on this board?

Also, as far as he knows, he's the last of his race. The only living organism from his home planet, which doesn't even exist anymore. I'd think that would be a bummer.

According to Zack Snyder, he was raised by a man the told him to never save anyone.

quote:

Jonathan Kent: You have to keep this side of yourself a secret.

Clark Kent: What was I supposed to do? Let them die?

Jonathan Kent: Maybe...
