The Pacific is better at telling a character story.

BoB is more like a very entertaining popcorn flick with a recognizable ensemble cast and great set pieces.

Not to be that a-hole making blanket statements that lead to the degradation of a conversation, but this may be the dumbest fricking thing I've ever read on this board. Ever.

When will people realize that the war in the pacific was a lot different than the war in Europe.
I thought they did an excellent job of showing the pacific theater. Had the war continued the American/Japanese casualties would have been significant and I don't know that Japan would have ever surrendered.

When will people realize that the differences in the two theaters is beside the point? You have to tell a compelling story to hook the audience. The stories, individually, are compelling. When strung together in an attempt to make a 10 part miniseries, they fall apart.

If they wanted to tell those stories, each one should have been focused on and completed in a coherent manner. So have Sledge have the first 4 episodes, Leicke the next 4 episodes, and Basilone the last 2. Call each segment their own mini-series. shite, they could be "The Pacific: With the Old Breed," "The Pacific: Helmet for My Pillow," and "The Pacific: Medal of Honor." Done.

The Pacific is really good. It's different, but still good.

But Band of Brothers is one of the greatest TV series ever, despite it being only 10 episodes.

Yeah. Lonesome Dove might have something to say about the flat out greatest. But BoB is either 1 or 1A in my book.
