I feel like I've seen wikis and things like that on here that are a good compliment to the books. Which are the most helpful and best? Hopefully I'll be in the non Hodor threads by next season. TIA

I have Game of Thrones Companion on my iPhone. It is really helpful and fast. It has quick reference maps, characters quick House bios and religion bios. It cost like 3 or 5 bucks but it is well worth it to be able to follow and figure stuff out as you go.

George RRMartin's "A World of Ice and Fire" app.

You pay in app for each books contents, but it has helped me immensely while I'm going through the books.

I'm about halfway through book 2 now.

Wiki Fire And Ice. Stay out of the megathread here untill you've read them all.

The House descriptions in the back of the books can also be helpful at times.

Thanks. I figured that be the case

I've started reading them on my kindle through the 4 book bundle. I'm still working on getting past 1%

This is BS. I just finished reading book 5 about a week ago and constantly found myself looking up names. Book 1-3 aren't too bad but book 4 starts introducing a bunch of new people.

I agree, other than the hundredish Houses and thousands of names thrown at you.

The only book I read where those things existed was Dance With Dragons and it made my reading experience so much better being able to reference minor characters I read about ten years ago.

You can set Tower of the Hand to the scope of what you've read and seen. Just have to avoid some of the essays and the commentary in the essays and re-reads by users there.

I just read the books and used the wiki on occasion. I didn't find it all that confusing

Yeah, exactly. DO NOT read the A Wiki of Ice and Fire before the books like I did...I was spoiled about everything that happened through the end of Dance with Dragons, and this was even before I started reading the books . I'm about to finish AFFC and I know everything that's happened in ADWD before I start reading it. Oh well.

So read the wiki after I finish the book, not during?

100% do this. Avoid the wiki, as it cannot be filtered and shite can snowball real quick on you.
