If you haven't already, you may want to google Robert's Rebellion to get some background of what all is going on (Just be careful when you are on the wiki sites and don't look up anything else). I read up on it after I watched season 1, and then went back and rewatched season 1 and it may a whole lot more sense to me.

I'm pretty hodor myself but Hodor threads are a trainwreck. Either be a middle grounder or Maester or don't be in a thread at all, too much BS in Hodor threads
I still got beef with Jet12 after last year

It's a damn shame that this isn't somehow a part of the show already. It's crucial to understanding WTF is going on in the first few seasons and the over arcing story
The more background you know the better and you can learn as much background as you want without spoiling the books or the show

No doubt. It's way too important to the whole story for it not to be included.

There's lots of dong and gay sex too, so you have that to look forward to

You're in for a treat. Keep us updated.
Oh and pay no attention to certain book readers who are just jealous that the show has passed them up now.

Best active TV series IMHO with even more potential depending on how they finish it. Enjoy.

The show? No.
Read the books. They're better

I got into it late, too. Well-worth the catch up.
Enjoy!

Perhaps the OP should make this a Quarter Ground thread. No spoilers allowed from book or show beyond the episodes he has watched.

Consider watching with subtitles so you can see some of the names.

The Middle Ground thread is for people watching the show who are either readers or nonreaders. Book talk is allowed, but only up the point the show is at. The most sensitive nonreaders don't go there, so the drama is a lot less. And, perhaps miraculously, readers respect the rules and don't post any spoilers. The idea is to help nonreaders get answers to questions that cannot be asked in the Hodor thread.
