Don't feel bad. My wife and I are almost 30, and she's never seen it. I've got the DVD, she just always shoots down the idea to watch it.

This. This. THIS!

The ages are wrong but the scenario is the same here. I've tried for years to suggest that Mrs. Wrench should watch it.

I think now it's "no" on principle. Oh we'll, her loss.

I swear I've only ever seen it on tv one time but it was towards the end and I didn't want to watch it from there

Admittedly I don't watch AMC live (watch BB, MM and TWD all online) or IFC though

It's not that you haven't watched the movie, it's that you claimed it should be on tv more. It's on tv slightly less than "A Christmas Story" on Dec. 25th.

Good for you UM.

And IMO it was BETTER the second and third time I watched it, because you understand more about the plot and the twists and flashbacks and time sequences that lead up to the fantastic last half hour.
I also really liked Thomas Newman's score (he's the new John Williams and has done dozens of great movie themes already).
One of my favorite scenes was when he was dropped off by the red truck in Buxton. The music from then until he finds the tree with the rocks underneath is haunting (as is the music played when they show the aerial view of the prison near the beginning.)

One case where the movie may be better than the book, but it's still a damn good read. Because it was a short story, they were able to follow it almost spot on without cutting anything.
