So I saw The Lobster. It was actually the last movie I saw before the floods. So my memory may be off. But I know it got good reviews but I don't understand how. Just because it was weird and original? I didn't understand why the personalities had to be so terrible. Why do they care that people must reproduce? I just really felt like they had something with potential and it didn't deliver.

Their personalities were quirky and odd which is exactly why they were without a mate..

I found the closing third a bit clunky but enjoyed the movie.

Everyone in the film had the weird personality, even the couples.

Remember, Colin Farrel's woman left him for another guy with glasses (people are bizarrely superficial). The couple running the single's compound had the same cold/matter of fact demeanor as the singles. There's no real explanation as to why everyone acts the way they do. Possibly a byproduct of the dystopian society, possibly a cause.

I loved the movie. It's extremely rewatchable.

It got a 91% on rotten tomatoes...I just don't get it. Look I'm seriously now trolling, I just thought it was a movie where they tried way to hard to be different and it came across bad to me. Anyone else think that as well?

The director is Greek and the style it was filmed in was very Eastern European. Very detached and more attempting to be thought provoking than anything else. It's something that takes getting used to.

The one question I had:

Spoilers:

Is it implied the one lady gets eaten by dogs?

It was just what society had turned into. Don't think there was some specific reason

Yeah I think so since she's the one who told Collin Ferrel to cover his face with dirt so the dogs won't eat his face.

Saw this last night and I enjoyed it overall but the 2nd half definitely drags a bit. The first half is absolutely outstanding imo.

The movie is obviously a critique on modern/internet dating. I like to think the terrible personalities/interactions represent how we communicate while dating, especially how we communicate in online dating. It's all words, no body language or anything.

I think it's just showing society's obsession with finding a mate and how people are viewed as inferiors not worth being alive if they can't find a mate.

don't forget that these are outcasts that weren't pleasant enough, for some reason, to be in a relationship or continued relationship. they are all supposed to be quirky.

I don't if Colin Farrell has seemingly disappeared bc he's an a-hole but I enjoy watching him in pretty much everything he's done.

I think he's a pretty solid actor. He was a good looking young guy who liked to party and screw hot chicks. What's wrong with that? It ain't like he has a job where he gets drug tested. If I had the chance in my 20s and early 30s to wash down handfulls of molly with vodka, I would have jumped at it.
As he's aged, he's slid into playing losers pretty well, like the character in The Lobster and his run on True Detective.

I liked it a lot. Didn't think I would, but I did. Very quirky, weird, and original.

Let me ask this .... What animal would y'all pick if you were in that guys shoes?

I guess a dog.

Also, can we discuss the ending?
SPOILER

The last scene of Rachel Weisz sitting in the diner booth, I was expecting to see for Colin Farrell in the background, hauling arse away from her.

You are supposed to be left wondering. Did he run away. Did he blind himself? Did he not blind himself and not tell her?

I hope he faked blinded himself.

Just watched this last night and I am of the opinion that he would have fake blinded himself. You never know if he truly loves her as much as she loves him, since it is narrated from her POV, and he had already shown that he was willing to lie and fake it in order to have a partner.
