Who else got choked up when they saw the Millennium Falcon?

I was very impressed overall and can't wait for the next one.

Whole lota Meh...

It felt like they threw together a plot just for old times sake.

Your opinion sucks.

Though I do agree there were some plot issues.

Very few movies don't have some kind of plot issue. Big deal.

There was a plot?

My biggest question: why did the bad guy wear a mask? A psychological thing just to look cool?

Why do you wear a dog mask Rex?

Probably a nod to his idle Darth Vader. It worked, he looked badass in the mask ..

Because he's trying to be like Darrh Vader and appear more menacing with it on. That's the only reason for the mask, unlike Vader who needed it to survive.

Movie was average at best. There is no way that Finn & Rey could hold up in a lightsaber battle with Kylo.

"The force guides your actions." Rey could. And Finn had his spinal column burned out.

The answers to the criticisms in this thread are incredibly obvious if you were half way paying attention.

Anyone who thought that was a good movie probably has an IQ below 85.

It was just objectively terrible. The entire thing was plagiarized from Episode IV, and that wasn't even the worst part. The "plot" was just a series of ridiculous coincidences, one after the next. And every character was just a one-dimensional cardboard cutout. I hated the prequels, but they look like Shakespeare compared to this turd. The fact that it received such critical praise is proof that Idiocracy was a documentary.

It is explained in the title of the movie! The force awakens. That is Rey. She could possibly be the most in tune with the force of any Jedi ever. If you couldn't see that then you were not looking.

So true.

I like also how all the previous Star Wars rules were thrown out... you no longer need extensive Jedi training, for example, to utilize the power of the Force.

And regarding the Republic... did it just exist in the sky, within eyesight, waiting to be destroyed? Where was the background on how it wasted all those previous sacrifices and victories just to play sitting duck with no military presence?

And I wonder if there will be an EVEN BIGGER Death Star in the next sequel to be destroyed by rebel fighters in still the SAME old, same old manner?

This movie was an affront to the memory of The Empire Strikes Back, in particular. It certainly didn't feel like the same franchise.

It was an affront to average human intelligence. Just unbelievably bad. At least the prequels were coherent.

I saw someone describe it as $200 million fan fiction. And I think even that is kind of an insult to good fan fiction.

It was a fun movie which is all I think they wanted it to be. Nothing mind blowing and obviously kind of a reboot with a few tweaks.

Minor spoiler:

The only thing I kept laughing about in my head was they knew the whole galaxy was looking for this f'ing robot and they just keep strolling it in to these seedy bars and places. At some point common sense would tell you leave it in the ship while we go chat for a sec.
