Confirming what was said last year, pics have emerged of animatronics of dinosaurs such as Dilophosaurus and Apatosaurus.

Didn't they do the same for the first one?

In the orignal they used more animatronics then CGI. In JW they only used on animatronic

This has become a new thing that is said but never ends up being the case.

Yeah, I remember reading they'd take this approach for Jurassic World and didn't at all.

Lucas and Spielberg straight up lying about doing that for Indy IV still chaps my arse.

Animatronics holds up way better than CGI

Practical effects are what made Indiana Jones films so great. And they're what cheapened IV so much.
I would've had a much, much smaller problem with the characters if their surroundings weren't so fricking absurd.

Probably best they never made that film. It could have tarnished the memory of the existing trilogy.

For me it's physics.
CGI is often used in ways that bends the rules of physics, or worse bends the rules of physics inconsistently. Characters will perform stunts that are impossible, and impossible to the point where you're reminded "this is a movie."
When you do that, you tell the viewer that the rules of physics no longer apply, and so whenever a character needs to jump across that chasm, shimmy up that rope, or evade that rolling boulder, you know they will even if it seems improbable.
What they should do is rely on the rules of physics as we understand them to create tension.
