Back in January, we reported that The Impossible director J.A. Bayona had dropped off World War Z 2 with the likelihood of being wooed over to Universal to direct Jurassic World 2. Now it looks like that’s the case with producer Frank Marshall confirming the hire on Twitter:
Frank Marshall ??@LeDoctor
Thrilled to announce JA Bayona is on board to direct JW2. Welcome to the team @FilmBayona!

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow also sounded his support for Bayona on Twitter:
Personally, I’ve only seen Bayona’s 2007 film The Orphanage, which was quite good. His next movie, A Monster Calls, opens later this year, and judging by the trailer, it looks incredible to the point where hiring him to helm the sequel to one of the highest-grossing films of all-time seems like a no-brainer. While it’s unlikely that Jurassic World 2 will outperform the original at the box office (a fact that has to do with sequels rather than anything specific to the Jurassic franchise), this is still a huge get for Bayona, and while I was a bit disappointed with Jurassic World, I’m excited to see what he does with the material

I will keep watching these as long as they are willing to make them.

Chris Pratt might be the richest man in Hollywood in a couple years if these major franchises keep hitting

Listen to him on the nerdist podcast. Soon the American flag will be 50 Chris Pratts

Same here, despite the fact that Jurassic World was pretty bad.
Despite the fact that even though Jurassic World was pretty bad, it was the second best of the series so far.

One of the only franchises that I will go see in theaters no matter what. I'm too much of a sucker for dinosaurs. I even recognize that The Lost World is a shite movie, but I still watch it every time I see it on TV.

I will watch Chris Pratt do anything in a movie.

It was awesome and stupid. It's in a category with Taken and Rocky IV.

I will go see it, but the first one was blah...

Perfect description. Saw it three times in theaters. Absolutely fun each and every time.

Very accurate. I never went see it in theaters, but bought it on BluRay. I've enjoyed it each time I've watched it since, and laugh my arse off at it quite often with its ridiculousness (both continuity and science wise, and just the absurdity of the InGen folks).
