Wife and I watched season one recently just for kicks. I loved the late 70s Texas aesthetic. The one season was enough. The theme song still pops.

He had mellowed some in his later years, but he was just as ruthless (maybe more) as JR in his younger days. He and Digger Barnes were partners, and Digger is actually the one who found all of the oil that made the Ewings rich. Jock stabbed him in the back and stole it all from him. Also, he stole Miss Ellie from him as well. (She dated Digger prior to Jock). So, he was just as much a villain as JR, and probably where JR learned how to operate.
