I was just channel surfing and came across this show on the BBC. At one point, this was one of my go-to books. I think I read it four or five times -- including footnotes.
I heard nothing about the show being made.
Has anyone watched it?
How does it hold up?

Just finished first episode. It's solid.
Eddie Marsan as Mr. Norrell is spot on casting.
Childermass played by Enzo Cilenti is good too.
Not much Jonathan Strange in the first episode, but that should change in the next couple.

Reviews have been very positive. I was going to make a thread about it when the first episode aired but forgot. I haven't watched yet but plan on it.

Never heard of the books. Checked it out after a very good review from Grantland. First episode was OK. Second was much better.

It's just one long, very dense book.

I tried to read the book - gave up after 200 pages (out of c. 1,000). Bored me to tears. Just didn't get it.
I suppose fantasy's not my thing.

I never read the book. I really enjoyed the first two episodes. I am in for the rest of the miniseries. M
