Why do you need a 2 year hiatus to do this?
Just do it at a different point in the year when GOTs is in production and then show it during the fall season.

2 shows would be too time consuming.I feel like it would good for the showrunners to step back from the ending and show the true start of this, especially since so much of the endings that they get to reveal is buried in the past....and at the hope of GRRM finishing books so the book readers get some satisfaction too.

While that would be badass, I don't think they should. It'd ruin the show for a lot of people. Find out who Jon Snow's mom is is a huge deal for both Hodors and book readers.

well if the prequel series ended with the reveal and the new season debuted immediately following it, with Jon Snow being in the opening scene, it would probably play out well.
ETA: besides if it showed more both R's banging L, and Ned maybe banging a broad then boom, intrigue is still there.

This is the one piece of the puzzle that sold me when I first heard and started looking into the theory. I remember thinking back during The Game of Thrones "There is no way in hell that this guy cheated on his wife."
Now whether or not GRRM decides to screw with everyone and change that, that is a whole other question.
