Nuclear weapons are exploded at altitude. To find the optimum height of burst for any weapon yield, the cubed root of the yield in kilotons is multiplied by the ideal H.O.B for a 1 kt blast, e.g. the optimum height of burst for a 500 kt weapon is ~ 1745 m

"Unbotanium" is a mineral. A rock. It would be fine.

LOTR fans, Star Wars fans, and Trekkies care about those universes all the time.

LOTR was based on a trilogy of books (unless I'm mistaken), so a trilogy of movies was always inevitable; of course people cared about the sequels. Star Wars - was it a phenomenon after the first movie, or did its popularity rise dramatically after a couple of sequels? [Probably both.] I wasn't around at the time, but I have to believe that Empire made a huge impact on the franchise's popularity. Why can't Avatar 2 do the same?

And Trekkies - I guess that's referring to Star Trek. I don't know anything about those movies or the people that watch them, so I can't really comment.

I'm not going to get very involved with this argument, but I think the reason they didn't destroy the moon is because the company is probably limited in what they can do from a attack standpoint. That's why they have a research team investigating the nature of the planet. They start attacking when it's apparent that the natives are not going to play ball. Then mass hysteria is even more embedded when the general guy shows that the Navi might be planning an attack on the base.

Research is a secondary task, but it's still a task.

Now, as far as the future of the movies, I don't know. They basically went to war with the earth. It'll be interesting to see how future story lines are handled.

He's acting like it'll make a ton of money. It will make a ton of money.

They're also building Avatar land in the Animal Kingdom at Disney World. I'd expect the opening of that park and the release of the sequel to be pretty close to each other

I don't know anyone that cares at all about the Avatar universe. It was a decent movie on its own. I know that I personally have no questions leftover from the film. Just like my childhood was fine not having more insight on the Fern Gully universe.
There isn't an Avatar universe.

There are only two planets.

I don't even remember anything about Avatar. Blue people and sleeping chamber...that's it.

Here.

I thought it was terrible. The plot was ridiculously undeveloped and the characters were boring.
