There really isn't. Bond, just like Indy, is more of an idea than a character. You just need a suit, a gun, a drink, and to be a womaniser.

They peeked out with the Gondola/Hovercraft in Moonraker.

As another poster said, you can all pretend to be colorblind, but the Elba discussion is about people wanting a specifically black Bond, which is why they ignore Elba's way-too-oldness. People just want to be in favor of it so they can feel all progressive and tolerant, when in fact, they are the biggest racists of all.

The dude that plays Superman man of Steel and is in the new movie Man From Uncle should play Bond.

I need a remake of Shaft, and I want him to be the whitest motherfricker they can find. That would go over like a fart in church with black folks. So WTF is the issue?

Book Bond wasn't short and effeminate.

That seems weird, since you were only 5 when the first Timothy Dalton movie came out.

He's not. He's 11 years younger than Tom Cruise, an actor who plays a spy that does many more stunts.

Great example. Is Elba also a cult member with a $4800 a week gerbil habit?

You are the only one calling any one a racist in this thread. I think you need to reevaluate. No one is calling for Bond to be black. They are calling for Idris to be Bond. You can make this argument whenever there's 10 random black actors they are trying to shoehorn into the role. Not whenever it's one actor that happens to be a perfect fit for the role.

I don't care about being "progressive". Why do you think it's impossible to just be a fan of Idris? You are generalizing an imaginary agenda across to everyone. It's ridiculous

If David Tennant was the next Bond, would you complain about his age?

Yes. Even Sean Connery was way too old when he reprised the role for Never Say Never Again.

No, I'm happy with my state of evaluation.

because he's black. You're not fooling anyone.

Why would they consider other black guys when they've got the black guy they want?

Face it. If Elba was white, we would not be having this conversation.

Yes, bitter beer face should never have been cast. He's good looking if you squint real hard, but he is no Bond.

I see no tantrum, just a frank discussion about racial pandering by a bunch of racists.

You're calling anybody who disagrees with you a racist.

And even more of your tantrum.

Bond is an idea, not a character. Elba fits the idea.
