Just saw this last night and I was very impressed. It's amazing what a talented director can accomplish on a small budget with simply but creative shots and an incredible musical score.

This movie is all about atmosphere and was one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen this year.

Two thumbs up!

Beautiful film, great cinemetography and music. It just felt like it lacked something once it was over with. I get the theme of the film, but I felt like something was left undone when I left.

I wrote a review about it awhile ago.

I finally got around to seeing this movie.

First off, I would just like to say that I thought the film was shot beautifully. The rotating shots were just amazing. The atmosphere was also very well done. It kind of had a retro feel to it. Most of the props and sets in the movie look straight out of the 80s, although the movie is set in the modern day. They use old TVs, older cars most of the time, older houses, it was absolutely beautiful. There is even a character who has a Kindle that is in the shape of a small make up case. I don't know if this is an actual product that they make, but it was a nice touch. The movie was well acted from the main character and the ensemble acting was about what you would expect from a horror movie.

As far as the scariness level of the film, I didn't find it scary at all. That doesn't mean that I didn't think it was a really good movie. It's worth a watch, but try to focus on the subplots instead of it just being a "scary" movie. If you don't, you may be disappointed.

8/10 for me.

Spoilers*******

So I kind of understand what the movie is attempting to portray. Essentially it's trying to display the fear of dying at any second and how that fear far exceeds the actual pain of death. I also feel like the movie is trying to show in a nut shell what the dangers and fear of sex can be. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I got out of it.

I really enjoyed the subplot going on between Paul and Jay. Paul has always been in love with Jay and gets very heartbroken that she chose to pass "It" to Greg instead of him. Greg doesn't really believe that Jay is actually seeing things, so it's not a big risk to him. I think he just enjoys the sex. Paul however was so in love with Jay that he is willing to risk violent death to be with her, in any way possible.

So when Jay actually does decide to sleep with Paul, we know why Paul does it, but why does Jay do it? I think it's because she doesn't want to be alone in this ordeal. She wants someone there that she trusts to be there with her. She loves him, but not in the way Paul loves her. I loved this aspect of the movie. It made it a very unique and new experience.

ETA: I just read somewhere that the movie was kind attempting to recreate the fear of HIV in the 80s. That would make a lot of sense. Also, I neglected to mention the absolutely fantastic score in the movie. Masterfully well done.

That makes sense, but what I initially took from the movie is that the demon that follows is a metaphor for the bad reputation that may follow due to youthful promiscuity. Or the issue of STDs.

However, I didn't once think of the HIV/AIDS hysteria from the 1980s. And now that makes the most sense especially considering the 1980s look and feel...

Horror is my least favorite genre (just edging out Comedy), but this one is on my to-watch list. It's pretty much universally acclaimed.
