I know its old but I decided to binge it.

Season 1 - Excellent
Season 2 - Terrible
Season 3 - Excellent
Season 4 - Terrible

Just started season 5 and it doesn't seem to promising.

Anyone else feel this way?

Definitely don't feel that way, Season 2 and 4 are awesome. Season 5 is easily the worst though

I like the show and enjoyed watching it. Some of the characters were great. But in no way was it a top 5 show for me like a lot of people here.

It was a good cop show but very similar to other cop shows

Nope. The only "terrible" season is #5.

Season 2 - Terrible

This is a fairly popular opinion - Season 2 is the most polarizing. I didn't get it the first time. On subsequent viewings, it is much better.

Season 4 - Terrible

The problem Season 4 has (similar to Season 2) is that it follows Season 3. 4 has its moments - I think it is the worst of the group, but, again, enjoyable upon subsequent viewings - more so than I would have anticipated.

Season 5 is pretty good - you won't think it on par with 1 or 3 I wouldn't imagine. It has a single glaring flaw I won't spoil for you and some folks don't like the newsroom dynamic (just as some didn't like the corner boys/school dynamic of Season 4).

Season two does a great job explaining how Trump got elected.

I didn't love two at the time I was originally watching but I enjoyed it much more when I did a rewatch. I thought season 4 was great as I watched it and it held up on the reup.

I'm not a huge fun of season 2. Wouldn't call it terrible, it definitely has its moments, but it's not on the same level as the other seasons to me.

However, season 4 was probably my favorite season of the show. Based on your ranking of the seasons, I'm just going to assume your main focus on the show is the Avon Barksdale/Stringer Bell gang related stuff (which are heavily focused on in seasons 1 & 3).

Season 4 introducing the schools to me had a whole new cast of characters, with the 5 main kids it focused on having some of the most complete season long story arcs in the entire show.

Plus you see Marlo Stanfield coalescing his power at the top of the crime food chain. Carcetti becomes mayor. Only thing missing from season 4 was a lack of McNulty, but I really didn't mind because everything else was so good.

I cannot fathom anyone actually having this opinion. Do you also think blowjobs are terrible? Steak?

I think true detective wins that award.

I just finished binging it and I have to agree.

It started off pretty good but went down the toilet with Season 2. Season 3 seemed to redeem it and Season 4 was absolutely perfect. But then Season 5 just kind of made the whole thing blah. Really forced and anticlimactic.

I thought it was full of great performances (please tell me the actor who played Bubs won some kind of award) and realism. But the plight of the dock workers and newspaper were as flat and boring as could be. However, I do appreciate the creator wanting to show from multiple angles how a city can rot.

I think this board thinks a little to highly of this show. As far as HBO series go, I haven't watched but a handful but I can say that The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, and Band of Brothers are all way better.

Just my opinion.

I really dug the second season. It was a change of pace and Chris Bauer was so freaking great as Frank Sobotka.

The fourth season was great, but I found it hard to watch, because I knew horrible things would happen to a likable group of boys. At least Namond ended up OK.

I had a lot of problems with the fifth season -- what McNulty and Lester did, I despised the Scott Templeton character. But I thought Clark Johnson was great as the newspaper editor. They really nailed the character and what drives newspaper guys like that. It's not as good as the four previous seasons, but it's better than 85% of the shite on TV.

frick that piece of shite, Namond Brice. He didn't deserve shite, and Bunny would've been a much better man to step up for some of the other kids rather than Namond fricking Brice.

Yeah, he was the worst of the bunch. That was frustrating. Randy's and Dukie's stories were heartbreaking. Stupid frickin moron Herc. Season 4 was terrific and incredibly poignant.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. He was the worst of the bunch, so he got Bunny's attention.

Speaking of Bunny, what a great character he was. I really liked his introduction, and the whole Hamsterdam thing was a cool idea for the show. I'm glad Bunny landed on his feet after his school experiment failed and got a job as the Jets head coach.

I'd like to know what TV you enjoy, because season 2 was good compared to literally almost any other show on the planet.
