Don't misunderstand me: I love every Indiana Jones movie BECAUSE of their absurdity, humor, and action.

However, am I supposed to believe that Indy and his father can move throughout Nazi Germany at will without being able to speak the language?

For example, take the Nazi book burning scene where Indy has a chance encounter with Hitler. Indy would be exposed the moment a German, any German, attempted to speak to him. Yet, during that entire scene not one German (except the Nazi woman he lusted over) ever attempted to talk to him. Not even a German "hello", "how are you", etc.

He bumped into Hitler and Hitler didn't say a word. Not even one of the officers around Hitler chastised Indy.

It's just a very unbelievable scene and premise.

But I love it regardless because it's still movie magic.

That was VERY bad, but is it worse than when Indy swims to and boards a Nazi U-Boat as it's submerging and somehow manages to survive the trek from the mid Atlantic to a Mediterannean island lair?

It's Indiana Jones.

Look at Temple of Doom.

All history and culture is caricature.

That's what always got me.
I just told myself that it never submerged while making way to port.

Okay - just FTR - this is a movie about magic relics that melt all the skin off people who don't close their eyes and look away at the climactic scene.

So, that out of the way - did you know that diesel electric submarines almost never "submerged" - they would only submerge if spotted by aircraft or right before they went into battle? They could cruise slightly underwater at snorkel depth so that the diesel engine could continue to draw air to run.

A submarine of that era could only cruise underwater - fully submerged in other words - for a few minutes at a time and would have to surface to recharge the batteries with the diesel engine.

Yeah, he could have at least worn a bandage on his throat and pointed at it when spoken to like Michael Douglas in "Shrining Through".

No. Temple of Doom had a scene where a man's heart was removed, he was dropped into lava, and his heart burst into flame. That's incredibly ridiculous and over the top.

Ace is correct..The U-Boat would not have submerged just because its a U-Boat. They have a very small profile and are hard to spot on the surface even during daylight cruising.

Now Indy wanting to hook-up with Karen Allen
