Is Luther worth watching?

I had never heard of this show but it has good reviews and I'm a big Idris Elba fan. Would you recommend it?
Is it comparable to something like True Detective or anything else?

Absolutely
Not really comparable to True Detective, not sure what to compare it to honestly. Maybe closer to Sherlock but much darker.

Sounds good. From what I read about it it seemed like an interesting show. Gonna start it today.

The earlier seasons are better. I wasn't as big a fan of a few of the storylines later on. But it's still worth watching as Idris Elba is awesome in it.

The first season is great. The second season is just OK and then the show falls off a cliff IMO.

I loved it. It was weird at first because I still saw Elba as Stringer Bell. Kept expecting Wood Harris to show up.

To answer OP. Yes. It is one of my favorite shows ever. Elba is incredibly intense and vulnerable at the same time. He's tremendous in how he pulls that off.

Just finished binge watching. Loved season 1, but kind of trailed off as the rest of the seasons went on. The character Alice is amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed her and Luther's dynamic.
