Is Heroes really that horrible after Season 1?

I've read time and again on here that after Season 1, Heroes basically turns into the Gigli of TV series. Is it really that bad? I want to start watching, but don't want to quit in the middle of the series. I'm a a huge fan of serialized, Sci-Fi TV, so this show really appeals to me.

So, is it worth it?

TIA

I didn't mind season 2. Everything after 2 sucks.

Season 1 was amazing. Season 2 wasn't terrible but not on S1 level. Which was impossible to do.

After that it's pretty awful

Honestly, stop after the second to last episode of the first season. Literally anything you can imagine will be better. It all goes to shite from that point.

The first season is really good television. Just pretend that the final episode is the end.

I stuck it out but everything after season 1 is a decline.

Season 2 isn't terrible. But by the time you get to season 4, its a train wreck of massive proportions.

I will say that the season finale of season 4 had me interested in the direction the show would take, but in hindsight it was obviously a desperate attempt to not get cancelled, and it failed at that too

I didn't even realize there was a s4. I've watched s1/s2. Couldn't stand it much more after that.

I don't even remember what season 3 was but I think it was the one with Peter's dad maybe? It wasn't good, this was the season that was hit by the writer's strike I think and the season shifted completely different directions halfway.

Season 4 was complete dogshit. I watched the finale and didn't realize it was the finale. Worst series ending I have ever watched.

There are a few moments in season 4 where it shines, but ultimately it never grips you like season 1 did.

Yes it is. Season 2 is ok. It's basically unwatchable after that. The writers strike and the refusal to do anything risky at all in the least bit as writers killed the show.

To be fair the show didn't get cancelled until after it aired

I think you may be the first person I've seen here who has watched season 4. Everyone else bailed halfway through season 3 or earlier.

To the OP, you should definitely watch it. Just be prepared to stop after season 2.

You say that now, but if you do push on past season 2 you will want to quit in the middle. Maybe it's different with binge watching on NetFlix, but I had no problem taking it out of the DVR rotation.

Was good until Syler became the Fonzie of the series in season two.
