Is Black Sails worth the watch?

Very well done show, has to be the highest budget show ever put on Starz and you can tell. Production quality is on par with Game of Thrones

Just did a rewatch. One of my favorite series. It starts off a tad cheesy, but give it a good 4-5 episodes before passing judgment.

Yes.
First half of season 1 the show had no clue what it wanted to be. Get past that and you'll be hooked.
I didn't want it to end. Top 3 show for me.

Absolutely. Had the series been on HBO or Netflix it would be mention as one of the best on tv when it was on, Starz just didn't promote it the way it should have been. A little sad it was only 4 seasons and that it's already over.

I started it 2 years ago and bailed after 3 episodes. Someone told me to stick with it so i did and watched all 3 seasons.
It ended up being one of my all time favorite shows.
Reminds me a lot of the Leftovers in the sense that season 1 was good, not great. Season 2 was great, and then it was on another level.
Highly recommend

As already stated it's an excellent show.
Each season gets progressively better. The production quality is top notch. The only thing that bothered me in the 1st season was the ridiculous amount of softcore porn that added very little, if anything, to the plot. I know that is just how the shows are now, but I honestly found it detracted from the show. There's less and less as the show goes on though.
The final season is incredible.

I had made a thread about this (and got dogged for it). Years ago, the wife and I had watched the high-budget porn flick "Pirates," so when we started watching Black Sails it just seemed too cheesy with all the sex and nudity. Just couldn't take it seriously. Also, Vane was so douchey he was just begging for an Affliction shirt in his early appearances. And Jack was too cheesy as well. We gave up after 2-3 episodes.
But thanks to this board, I gave it another shot recently and loved it. Binged it quickly. Then I watched again with my wife and kid - just wrapped it up last week.

awesome show, one of my favorites. the quality of the writing is top notch and so is the acting. John Silver is the GOAT
