Is Amazon quietly taking the lead in the race for original content?

Mozart in the Jungle, Goliath, Man in High Castle and many others are just fantastically done.

i like a lot of their content, but Netflix is still king in my opinion.

eh...they haven't caught up with Netflix yet

I've enjoyed a few of their shows, but Netflix has a few all time greats right now

They are improving but I can't think of anything they've done that's better than the best that NetFlix has put out.

The Man in the High Castle and Catastrophe are the only Amazon originals I've watched that I would say belong in the same tier as the better NetFlix originals. Mozart in the Jungle, Red Oaks and Transparent weren't able to get me to watch more than the pilot. I am looking forward to Sneaky Pete and The Tick.

The list of successful NetFlix Originals is pretty long:

House of Cards
Orange is the New Black
Peaky Blinders
Stranger Things
Narcos
Dare Devil
Jessica Jones
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
Defenders
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Master of None
Marco Polo
Grace and Frankie

That's just off the top of my head in no particular order, and it doesn't mention a ton of kids programming like Puss in Boots and rebooting Voltron.

Amazon is working on it, but they have a long way to go to catch up, let alone take the lead.

Not a Netflix original.

Still an impressive list.

I believe it's "coproduced", basically paying for the rights upfront which helps finance the show, which reminds of another good NetFlix Original I left off, The Last Kingdom.

What that guy said. Amazon is doing a good job, but this isn't even close at the moment.

And that doesn't even include the Netflix original films. They've got a Brad Pitt movie they'll be releasing next year.

It's not. Peaky Blinders is entirely produced in the UK for BBC. Netflix just owns exclusive US distribution rights. In fact, Netflix has to change some of the soundtrack due to licensing restrictions.

Last Kingdom isn't a Netflix original, either, although they are coproducing season 2.

You left off Bloodline.

I stupidly started a rewatch of Babylon 5 before getting to Man in the High Castle. Going to get there sooner, rather than later.
