Should I start her with Phantom Menace or A New Hope? I know Phantom Menace isn't highly regarded by true fans but seems like it could be an easier in for someone that isn't a fan.

Even though I'm a prequel defender (I recognize their faults), I'd start with the order they came out in. Makes the Vader turn better IMO.

Start with Rogue 1 (and I shite all over Rogue 1), then the originals, then the prequels, then Force Awakens.

Go in release order. 456 123 7 Rogue One. Phantom Menace is a horrible movie, Attack of the Clones is even worse. I can't imagine watching those without any kind of SW universe frame of reference.

Do Rogue One, 4,5,1,2,3,6,7

Doesn't spoil the surprise and after Empire you get the background for how this all came to be. Machete order they call it

I like the idea of starting with rouge One.

That scene with Vader tearing those rebel shoulders up will help reinforce the fact that Vader is a ruthless villain in episodes 4 5 and 6.

If she doesn't like that scene, he should dump her arse.

Didn't think I would start with a new movie but Rogue One is very easy to like and jumps right into A New Hope. I think that's what I'll start with.

Gotta start with the original trilogy. If you start with the prequels, she's not going to GAF about the watching the original trilogy before you even make it out of AOTC.

As always, you should show them to her in the order that they were released. Anything else is doing her a disservice (assuming she is willing to watch them all on her own accord).

That way, it's up to her to form her own judgments about each one and how (well or not well) it fits into the overall story.

Is it actually possible that an adult in 2017 doesn't know that Darth Vader is Luke's father? Even if you've never watched Star Wars people know this don't they?

She doesn't care about Star Wars. Put on A New Hope and tag her from behind for your own pleasure

This. Keeps the major plot reveals as much of a surprise as possible, and also explains who the young punk Force ghost is at the end of Jedi.
