Watched this on Netflix recently and was blown away.
It is an absolute must see. I had no idea a place like this existed in today's world. Kim Jong-Il is ruling a nation that is as close to 1984 as you can get. Not for the faint of heart.

You can watch it all here if you have the time:

It's pretty well documented how shitty North Korea is.

Saw a good documentary on the net. That place is insane. Amazing to see an entire country totally brainwashed.

Absolutely incredible scene when a doctor fixes this patients eyes and instead of thanking him, he walks to Kim Jong-Il's portrait and kneels down in gratitude

Definetly worth a few

The North Korean soldiers look like they're just playing dress-up. "Look through binoculars. You see far!"

Our military could take a shite and wipe out that pathetic regime.

I watched it on Saturday as was amazed how brainwashed the people are.

Even if reunification were to be attempted, getting over that mentality will take generations.

"Unity stronger than American atomic bombs."

I wonder if he'd like us to test that hypothesis?

I'm not gonna donate to that Dr to fix any more of them North Korean's eyesight.

That old man said that with his new eyesight he was gonna get a gun and kill all of us.

He should have "treated" a government official and implanted a timed exploding chip in his eye so that when he returned to the government complex he'd take out everyone inside.

Get creative here, people.

That's true, it wasn't the uniforms... they had players wearing Nike cleats. Example:

I remember this from a few years back. Wasn't this the one done by Lisa Ling (former host on The View)?

I personally thought the Vice Guide to NK was better, but both are excellent in summing up just what life, or pitiful existence, in NK is. Its stunning that there is still this much control, physically and psychologically, over a country in our current day without a revolution even being considered.

It is.

I found this from wiki:

quote:

She is the older sister of Laura Ling, a journalist who was detained and released in 2009 by North Korea.

Wow, I didn't know this. So she makes this documentary in 2007, and her sister is detained by them in 2009...

That's another awesome story about NK. There is a documentary that was done on her and the other woman she was captured with that is an excellent watch as well. It should be on youtube.

The Vice guide is the one I caught.

Was hilarious when they laid out all of the food on all of the tables in the hotel restaurant to try and prove that they had plenty of food even though the documentary guy was the only person staying in the hotel.

I did get a little nervous when he started singing Anarchy in the UK at the karaoke place.
