LINK

It's based on a John Steinbeck novel and directed by James Franco.

Look at this cast:

Ed Harris
Bryan Cranston
Robert Duvall
Vincent D'Onofrio
James Franco
Sam Shepard

Woah. My thesis was on IDB. Very cool as it's a lesser known work but very worthy of the attention.

It's about a migrant worker strike in the apple orchards.

Has Franco recovered?

He said he had to re-examine his life and do a lot of soul searching because Trump won.

I hope this movie is not going to be as simple as migrant farm worker = good, and farm owner = evil.

The book was set in 1936 when the US was entering into the 7th consecutive year of the Great Depression.

The price for all food had fallen to incredibly low levels. This was also the time when farmers were burning corn in the Midwest because at 0.02 cents a bushel corn was cheaper than coal. Dairy farmers were pouring milk out because the price of milk had fallen below the cost of transporting the milk to the store.

Farmers were also getting foreclosed on by the banks in great numbers, and the farmer needed to turn some sort of profit just to keep their farm.

I see from the trailer the migrant farm workers are upset the pay for apple picking was cut in half, but in reality the price of apples fell by much more than half.

With the cast this movie has hired and the talent they have given to the people who will play the farm owners I hope they give a well developed story portraying the effects of the depression on all sides, and they don't just have "good guys vs. bad guys."

Some truth in that but more often than not it was "bait and switch", the bait was the wage promised and then the switch was once the workers were essentially captive (using all their resources to get to the job) the owner sets a lower wage price.

That practice was still being used on migrant Mexicans into the 1970s.

Too bad they're about to go on strike until Trump resigns.
