He didn't snitch on Costigan and the news report says he was a cop. On the other hand, Frank says they're lying so he won't look for real cop and he does fire shots at the real cops. What do yall think?
I don't care what about what happens in 2nd and 3rd films of Internal Affiars.

I don't think so. I think he was the fall guy to get the heat off. If I remember correctly, he didn't realize that Costigan was definitely a cop until he was bleeding out.

It's completely ambiguous IMO. He either was, or he wasn't.

No he wasn't. Fall guy that way nobody would think there was another snitch. Even jack Nicholson said that it was a ploy and knew it l was cover up basically

Yes he was. Thsts the point of the movie.
They're all the same thing. He was undercover, Leo was undercover, Frank was selling people out to the feds, Damon was a thug in a cops outfit.

I thought he was and that's why he says to Leo, "why didn't I say anything?" About Leo having the wrong address.

I just watched The Departed for the first time and just finished moments ago (it was on AMC and I guessing why this thread was started).
My guess was he was not a cop, but you raise a great point. I think I mean lean yes now.

That's the key, IMHO. At that point, we know he didn't just mix up the numbers, he intentionally tried to steer Leo to the wrong address.
The question for me is, did he know before that Leo was a cop and was trying to protect him by sending him out of a potential shitstorm or did he just put 2 and 2 together when he realized that Leo was there all along?

The real message of the movie is so often overlooked; thanks for posting.

I thought this thread seemed familiar. We didn't come to a real conclusion last time either: Last thread

I may be the only guy on earth that didn't like that movie, but it was way too confusing for me.
