If Downey Relapses Bad, What Becomes of Iron Man Franchise?

I'd imagine Marvel would sue the crap out of him if it got so bad that he could not work. Would they eventually recast him like they did the Hulk twice for the future Avenger movies?

Its almost impossible for an actor, making money for studios and producers, to get himself fired these days. Hollywood has no shame.
I think Charlie Sheen had to kill three hookers before he was fired from his TV show and then they just gave him another one.
Downey would have to be completely non mobile not be offered the role.

I was reading Artie Lange's book and he talked about how he was so loaded on coke that he ran away when the producers of Madtv tried to get him to enter rehab. He ending up being cornered in a super market and started throwing fruit at random shoppers.

That's a pretty IF though. It's been a while since he's had any drug issues if I remember correctly. Plus he's only got Avengers 2 left which is pretty far in the future.
