Looks like I'll have to finish the book over spring break.

Mr. Wednesday looks exactly like I'd imagine him.

The book is outstanding. I'd read Gaiman's synopsis of an insurance convention, we're he to transcribe the minutes.

I had always pictured Ron Perlman, but Ian McShane isn't far off, IMO.

All the casting has been great so far. I've read this novel more times than I can count and I love the choices I've seen.

I. Can't. Wait.

I've read it and I didn't really like the book. And I love Neil Gaiman.

If I had my choice we'd get a Sandman series before American Gods, but I'll take what I can get.

Personally, I'm holding out for a proper Neverwhere series, and a Good Omens movie.

There is apparently optimism for a Good Omens series because it was one of Pratchett's last wishes to Gaiman.

And I kind of like the old BBC Neverwhere miniseries. I have it on DVD.

I've been meaning to check out the Neverwhere miniseries, but I'm still traumatized by BBC Hitchhiker's Guide. The radio drama with James McAvoy is supposed to be stellar.

The radio drama with McAvoy is great. Natalie Dormer plays Door and she's fantastic.

The old BBC miniseries is cheesy AF, but good fun if you ever liked shows like Twilight Zone or Outer Limits and can deal with that sort of thing. The acting is good, IMO, it's just the production quality that suffers. Croop and Vandemar are spot on in the show, IMO.

What would you compare this to?

I'll give it a shot

I don't know why but the name Mr Wednesday bothers me. Sound stupid. Hoping there is a reason behind it

Not sure what the tone of the show will be similar to. The novel is a bit unique. It's heavy in mythology. The whole concept is that when different cultures migrated to America they brought their gods with them. But as time has passed and these cultures stopped worshipping these gods they're now struggling to live in America and they're dying. On top of that, there's a war brewing between these old gods and the new gods (media, technology, etc.).

Gaiman knows his various mythologies well and deftly incorporates several different sets of gods into the story.

There is.

Good to hear. I work in media biz and my STARZ reps have always sent me screeners and advanced stuff but they've been very quiet on this. Told me the studio is very tight lipped about this one.

Plus it has Ian McShane in it. If he were staring in a new show about him staring at a wall I would still watch.

Enjoyed the book, love McShane, but the casting for Shadow was beyond weak. He's not an actor, he's a model. And (I imagine) he's going to be in just about every scene in the show. I can easily see Whittle ruining an otherwise well-made show.

I trust Gaiman's judgement. He was heavily involved in this and I don't think he'd have let them make too big of a mistake.

He was really good with what he had to wrok with on The 100. I think he might surprise you.
