Black Mirror, Black Glove and Prey are also worth a read.

Long Halloween
Killing Joke
Batman: Year One
Batman R.I.P
Dark Victory
Hush
Knightfall
The Dark Knight Returns
Son of the Demon
Arkham Asylum: A serious house on serious Earth
The Man Who Laughs
The Court of Owls
Joker (Not really a Batman story, but it expands Ledger's Joker's story)
No Man's Land
Year One, Hush, & Court of Owls were the best ones I've read recently.
And like someone else said, just get the comixology app.
LINK
You can search the main website and buy whatever comic you want and then just download it to your phone later.

I like the 60's ones the best, when the comic didn't take itself seriously at all and the villains were colorful and just downright silly.

Amazon
Start with the New 52 which started about 3 years ago. Great writers, color, etc. It starts with #1 and then so on.

Download Comixology. Amazon owns them now, but buy your comics and download them on the spot.

I have a ton of Batman graphic novels, almost all mentioned in this thread.
But right now I am reading The New 52 by Scott Snyder (one of my favorite writers) and it is fantastic.
The Court of Owls, a new origin story for Mr. Freeze, and a new Joker tale all in the first three collected trades. Absolutely great story telling.

Co-signed. I like quite a bit of the New 52 stuff. Forever Evil was enjoyable - I loved the new Bizzaro origin and relationship with Lex.

I would say start new 52 and if you enjoy that then move to the one shots. Things like the one shot are set in different universes so it can get confusing.

yeah the more I think about it, I agree with those saying just start with the new 52 stuff. Really easy to get into, great stories and them team of Snyder and Capullo (famous spawn artist) is one of the top creative pairs in comics right now.
