I don't have cable anymore, but I'll definitely be wanting to watch football this Fall. Is there an online service I can pay for to just get sports? I'm sure this is a "duh" question for most of you, but this is the first time I haven't had cable in a while. Wouldn't mind watching some MLB games too if there's some kind of general sports package. Best deals?

PS...I know about thefirstrow.eu, I'm looking for something more reliable.

NFL?

MLB - MLB.tv on laptop and Apple TV (and other devices, I'm sure)

You may not think this is the case, but it is: You will watch less sports. And that's a good thing. Anything really important is on Broadcast. Grab the App for a sport that you really like, and make anything else an event: head to a bar or a friends house.

I no longer sit in front of the TV and watch sports for hours on the weekend, and that's probably a good thing.

Fifteen bucks for bunny ears will get you the local channels. That works for me for NFL mostly. If it's ESPN or NFL network I'll go to a bar or a friend's house. frick cable.

Not to get on my soapbox but I can't say enough good things about cutting the cord, especially if you have kids. Most of the shows my kid(s) watch now are educational and what is not educational is commercial free on Netflix. It's pretty huge change in a kid's attitude when he's not being bombarded with advertising trying to convince him he needs shite that he doesn't.

End rant.

Isn't that about right. You're nice enough to share and some a-hole downvotes you for it.

Didn't even think about the effect of lack of advertising on children. Pretty interesting.

Yeah we cut the cord about a year and a half ago. The difference in Christmas lists from those two years was incredible. After we cut the cord he starting asking for footballs and tools and stuff, not a single name brand item. It was really cool. He actually put thought into it.

We - friends and family used to do the bar thing for Saints games. Finally realized it was a hell of a lot cheaper to get DirecTv and the NFL package. It's also a lot more comfortable sitting on my couch than a bar stool for hours on end.

Even if going to a friend's house for 3 or 4 hours you can't show up empty-handed.

AND THEN, if you drink at either place you risk a very expensive ticket that would pay for cable or satellite service for years.

You can check into a sling box if you have a friend or family member willing to let you bum off of them. I do that with my parents, works well.

Sling TV lets you catch some channels also.

I also use WatchESPN alot but once again, you'll need someone's log on info.

Easiest legal way?

=1 Roku type device + Sling TV app for $20 a month = all ESPN channels including SEC Network.
