I know I got HBO specifically for this series and I wouldn't keep it once the series finishes (unless of course they come up with something else I like as much).

So, yeah, I don't know how much better their subscriptions are with it but I know it's got me to fork over some change to them since it's started.

Same here, I rarely watch HBO except on Sundays.

I don't see it happening. You don't see many shows lasting 6+ seasons unless they're comedies. It's expensive and it's gonna take years to complete.

I haven't read it yet, but, I'm told the 4th and 5th book actually cover the same events from different characters perspectives. I'm on book 3 now, so, I can't say.

But, if that's true, they could combine them into one season.

They do, but there is no way they can cram 2000 pages into 10 episodes. It'll have to be two seasons.

If they do ASOS justice, I'll be happy enough. Those two seasons, if done right, would be some of the best TV ever and would lead to at least one more season. Anything more is gravy. The last two books are going to be increasingly more difficult to translate to screen w/ their budget.

They can skip the 4th book. It kind of sucks imo

AFfC should be combined with the first half of ADWD to see the whole story.

details on why you think this? Post in my other book spoiler thread, where I asked for theories on how the whole thing will end...

nothing specific in mind other than the coming wars and growing dragons. I think think the wall may fall before its over. He needs to start narrowing down the narrative though and bring these characters back together
