Ehh I guess you're right. It was just a very roundabout way to say all of that. I guess since we really can't do much between now and the finale when he meets the mother, this is as much we can move forward in an episode

I kind of half watched this episode but maybe the whole premise of HIMYM was Ted telling his kids everything about their mother as a way to grieve after she died

Haha I only glanced through your post.

I don't think that's where the show is going because its a little dark for HIMYM but that would be a good mind blowing twist.

Yeah he gets high in the hall and he says, "Where's my wife?"

Plus there was the one where he meets Wendy the Waitress and Meeker at the airport and she asks him if he's still with Zoey and he says God no but that he's married now and that they have two kids.

I guess it could have been before their mother died but he did seem pretty old in that airport.

Thank you for remembering that. This was getting depressing.

Did anybody catch Ted saying something along the lines of "Robin and Barney were probably fighting about another thing about their wedding". Seems like the rest of the season will be a ton of bickering between them.

The mother being dead has been an idea ever since season 2

Jason Seagal in an interview mentioned it as something HE thought would be a cool idea but to dark for the show.

Ill be very surprised if the mother ends up dead.

That's pretty much how all the episodes have been since Ted and the crazy bitch broke up. The playbook, the apartment sale, etc.

Here's my two cents.

If the mother is dead, and let's say she died of a disease (cancer, etc.), Ted may very well go from being the most hated character to the most lovable character on the show. If in fact she developed this disease after giving birth to the kids and died close to the time they were born, it shows that Ted stayed with her no matter what when he knew of her condition ( and probably never remarried), and is telling the story to his children and the good times before and after meeting their mother.

I only theorize about this because I know a few people in the real world that have gone through this problem and it shows how strong of people they are. Hopefully this isn't the case with this show, but it would make for some depressing shite.
