To be honest, I didn't read the whole article. But if the writers are trying to make this the last, I really don't see how they can stretch the show out anymore

The writers wrote much of season 1 as if they weren't going to get a second season. The cake girl was going to be the mother if they hadnt been picked up.

If CBS pays enough there will be a season 9. Is that a good thing? Probably not

Now I know I don't have a clue about writing/filming but do tv shows get written/filmed as they get shown? I just always assumed it was like a movie where they get together for a month or something, film the whole thing, and then release them each week. It's an ongoing process each week? That's interesting.

Doesn't make sense though that the writers could write it for an ending yet it couldn't be the last season. Sounds like it'll be as scatterbrained as last season.

Nah there are probably only 5 or so shows in the can right now.

They film constantly. That's why TV stars have hard time getting away to do movies.

I never knew that but now that you bring it up it makes sense.

But if enough people have stopped watching, I kind of doubt CBS will throw that much money at them to keep them, especially if its true that Segal is out after this season no matter what.

I already have a hard time believing they can have the mother be someone that fits all the criteria from the previous seasons, having them stretch it out another season makes it more unlikely unless they did a season that explored Ted and the moms relationship.

Honestly i dont care that much about Ted and who the mother is, i just hate that theyre goin to get Barney and Robin together, which makes no frickin sense

I bought Season 6 at Black Friday of 2011 and just opened it yesterday to rewatch. I remember absolutely HATING the season and Season 7, but when I rewatched, most were actually pretty good. They're not season 1 or 2 level, but they're very, very good.

I cannot say the same about the Office. I HAVE to skip episodes in Seasons 5 and 6 on DVD, they are THAT bad.

Of course they're going to draw out Ted meeting the mother, but I think they've done the best they could. The show will wrap up this year hopefully.

She won't, we are going to be disappointed in the mother no matter what. But honestly I don't care that much about the mother, Ted is easily my least favorite character on that show, I hope he's unhappy
I honestly wouldn't be shocked if the mom was a dude...

I gave up on the office around season 4 or 5. I've at least been about to watch HIMYM all the way through

Nahh the more realistic thing for Ted is to tell them who the mother is, then Old Ted goes out to the "Porch" from the porch test they always talk about and Ted lives happily ever after will his lover Bill whom he met shortly after the short lived marriage to their mother.

His kids were old enough to understand that two dudes cant make a kid, so he has to explain to them how he met their mother. Which left the family in complete embarassment for believing she turned Ted gay.

According to Wikipedia, ratings for last season on average was the highest for any season of the show.

He denied it so it's not true.

This. Ted is a whiny little bitch. But for the show's sake I'd like to know who the mother is. Then I, along with everyone else, will say that it's stupid.

I see no possible outcome where we the viewer are happy with the mother.

I see them tricking us and having some giant wtf moment where they were adopted or some crap.

I just remembered back to last year's episode where they look back at their lives three years at a time, and when they looked forward to 2015, Ted is married with the baby girl. So if they're ending the season when he meets the mother, than yeah this season will almost have to be the last one, right?
