how does Melissa Mccarthy keep getting lead roles

The only thing see was ever even semi funny in was bridesmaid and everything else that she has been in has been straight trash. She's a terrible, over the top actress who's not funny and ugly as sin. I can't be the only person who feels this way, or do others actually enjoy her films?

What I was about to say. Apparently a lot of average Americans seem to like her. Here's the box office earning of movies she has starred in.

Eta: her last movie, Spy, made $235m worldwide off of a $65m budget. I'd say that's profitable.

She's serverly unfunny
But it takes 2 days to write her terrible scripts, 2 months to film then it makes a decent amount of money back so it's a continuously process of crap

Spy was actually not a bad movie, but like bridesmaids, it's because the supporting cast was great

Spy is terrific. It's one of my favorite parody films. Tammy is awful, so it was a good bounce back for her.
She's not my slam dunk favorite, but I do think she's funny. She is better in a support role, though, so she can play off other people.

I went from thinking she was cool to having a full on crush for Rose Byrne after seeing her in Neighbors and Spy.

She's a good light comedienne and she's funny on SNL. I would much rather watch Bridesmaids, Spy or The Heat than those generic romantic comedies starring Reese Witherspoon/Kate Hudson/Drew Barrymore.
