Phoebe Cates was 18 (?) when Fast Times @ Ridgemont High was filming.. Assuming she was playing a HS Jr or Sr? I forget , but not too far off. Just that pool scene came to mind.

Shot near the end of 1981, JJL was 19 playing a freshman. Reinhold was 24 playing a senior. Bacher (Rat) was turning 25 at the end of 1981. Romanus (Damone) was already 25 when they filmed. Penn was 21. Whitaker was 20. Stoltz was 20 and Edwards was 19. Cage was 17.

Most of the FNL cast looked way too old for high school.

But overall, Fast Times had about as true to age for that large a cast as anyone could expect.

Yeah, Estelle Getty was actually the second-youngest of the main 4. Betty White was the oldest, then Bea Arthur a few months younger, then Estelle Getty by a year.
