lately I've been re-watching movies from my childhood for nostalgia purposes. In the past few weeks I've probably watched Heavy Metal three times.

Heavy Metal has to be in my Top 25 all time great movies just because everything works so well. The adult themed animation with the incredible soundtrack along with the time period it was filmed just makes this movie a once in a lifetime type movie.

Here is a list of songs from the Heavy Metal soundtrack:

1. "Heavy Metal" - Sammy Hagar
2. "Heartbeat" - Riggs
3. "Working in the Coal Mine" - Devo
4. "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" - Blue Öyster Cult
5. "Reach Out" - Cheap Trick
6. "Heavy Metal (Takin' a Ride)" - Don Felder
7. "True Companion" - Donald Fagen
8. "Crazy (A Suitable Case for Treatment)" - Nazareth
9. "Radar Rider" - Riggs
10. "Open Arms" - Journey
11. "Queen Bee" - Grand Funk Railroad
12. "I Must Be Dreamin" - Cheap Trick
13. "The Mob Rules" (alternate version) - Black Sabbath
14. "All of You" - Don Felder
15. "Prefabricated" - Trust
16. "Blue Lamp" - Stevie Nicks

I upvoted ya because I recently went back and watched again and was surprised how well it held up. I dig and not just because its a nostalgia view.

never heard of it.

Is this a movie that a large audience would enjoy or is it for the killz's of the world?

For someone who is such a proclaimed lover of everything Pink Floyd, the movie Heavy Metal is a must see for someone like you. I mean, I'm actually shocked that you haven't seen Heavy Metal.

Truly shocked.

If I was you, I'd rent or buy the movie and watch it as soon as possible.

My favorite songs combined with animation scenes:

Stevie Nicks - Blue Lamp

Blue Oyster Cult - Veteran of Psychic Wars

Don Felder - All of You

did you know that John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Harold Ramis all voiced major characters in Heavy Metal?

I discovered it in about 1985. It has remained on my top 25 list since then. One of my all time favorite movies.

Now, do you have anything constructive to add to this thread?

But I will say, I played this film for a neighborhood kid at like 10 years old and he started crying saying that he promised his mom he wouldn't watch things like that. 1st segment. I thought he was joking at first.
