You guys realize that in 10 years or so if this site still exists there will be student posters that will be making threads about how much they loved this movie, transformers, and similar films were their entire childhood? That'll be interesting

Honestly curious. What repercussions?

This movie currently sits higher than interstellar. ......there's something off about that for me. ...and very wrong.

I find it hard to believe it'll be as bad as interstellar.

I could understand if the audience rating is higher because people can generally overlook things that critics don't, but not really the other way around.

considering the months long hate fest, its just as likely that the audience score reflects an agenda.

I think a lot of these critics trying to make a name for themselves in Hollywood and the traffic on their websites/blogs, etc. can sometimes stem from how they review certain movies. If an aspiring film critic has finally gotten to where they want to be and they go shite on the all female Ghostbusters movie, it won't be good for buzz and their career. Not trying to sound like a douche, but it is a legitimate thing, kind of like a right wing actor not getting as many auditions due to their political leanings.

Edit: Or also think about being a white film critic who lambasted 12 Years a Slave...wouldn't be good for business in Hollywood.

what has jumped the shark is people still not understanding how RT works.

I stopped using them as a barometer about a year ago. A good number of their top movies are horrible and only voted up because of the content of the movie, not the actual quality.

Liking or not liking a movie is subjective at best to begin with. Literally every single method you use determining if a movie is "good or bad" is going to have flaws. Your best bet is to do some research and find a movie critic that likes and dislikes the same movies you do.

Rotten Tomatoes is pretty damn clear in their rating system. Obviously only giving a positive and negative option for reviews is not going to be the most mathematically accurate.

They are real liberal with the fresh rating for this movie.

Despite 74% Fresh...the average rating is 5.5 out of 10.

Looking only at top critics, it had a Tomatometer score of 54 percent “fresh” based on 35 reviews.

And I think there is some social concern to at least give it a fresh...even if you really didn't like it.

No doubt that a lot of reviews reference the "blatant sexism" of the YouTube trailer criticism. That tells me that some of these reviewers had their mind made up before they even saw the film as much as the haters did.

Some examples:

quote:

Somehow, this Ghostbusters remake is going to push us all to reckon with what a more equal world might look like, whether we like it or not.

quote:

A middle finger to the screaming brobabiez. If girls can't be Ghostbusters, then here, guys can't do anything.

It's almost as if they are making the movie out to be better than it really is just to say "f*ck you".

A lot of reviews were on the fence. ...the agenda could easily push a 4 to a 5, and a 5 to a 6....and rotten tomatoes only designates rotten or fresh. A 10/10 gets the same value as a 5/10.
Why would they bump it a point?

A) definitely sjw shite
B) it's only one movie of many they review, and their review is one amongst 200+ reviews for that movie alone, and how can we really distinguish between a 4 or a 5 level movie?

My point all along is I really wouldn't want to watch GB reboot even if they had cast men in those roles.

Exactly. I think the backlash would have been just as strong had the movie starred Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill and James Franco.

Interstellar is one of the most ambitious films ever. This is SJW shite. Maybe you didn't like the twist at the end of Interstellar, but I really think science nerds ate that shite up. It is entirely scientifically feasible that could happen as insane as it is.

Really, was there any thought on that level put into the Ghostbusters reboot? If you had problems with it, then you were called racist and sexist. Seriously, look how they treated James Rolfe, who is perhaps the most respected critic on the Internet. They have no substance to their arguments, it's just sexist and racist. The fact that a Leslie Jones racist movie has a higher RT rating than Interstellar, a movie which sought to get the public and government interested in space again to further advance the species, is asinine to me.

Not a terrible cast besides Rogen. ...Seth Rogen can't shake the stoner character.
