Has anyone out there watched the Bravo/Netflix Dirty John show?

A friend recommended this to me. It's a crime story but specifically a story about a sociopath who is able to ingratiate himself with single older (wealthy) women looking for romance via dating apps. He was in both law school and then became a nurse anesthetist later becoming a total drug addict all the while fooling these women. It was a spooky tale but more interesting because it is a true story. Reporting of the actual case is more disconcerting than the show. This happened in 2016/17 in California. I'll leave it with that as an introduction for any of you want to watch a bizarre story. Eric Bana is Dirty John and another key character is played by Julia Garner of Ozark fame. Connie Britton and Juno Temple are the other two lead characters though I'm not familiar with their previous work.

It's not fantastic but it's a decent watch. You really want to throw something at the idiot woman who he dupes, but it's very close to what really happened. Plus she's hot.

SHe'd been married like 4 or 5 times....

usually if it's too good to be true... it is...

I remember thinking that from listening to the podcast

It was interesting. But doing a little after watch research there are multiple stories out there about him. He basically would get busted, go to jail and the day he got out he would go to internet dating sites and try to find another sugar momma. I found the real story more disturbing than the show. Anybody who watches this should take a little time reading the background info on the web. The TV show though dramatized was fairly accurate.

I did not listen to the podcasts but did listen to a Q&A by the Los Angeles Times reporter who wrote the stories. He describes this guy as almost demonic but smooth. He had everybody scared though he never committed a serious enough crime to go to the big house for a long time. But in the end he was planning on a much bigger crime.

It’s not great. Britton’s character is so damn annoying.

Britton's character was exactly like Britton's performance. So Connie Britton nailed it. And in real life Debra Newell was a successful self made wealthy woman.

But Debra had a Tesla and not a Maserati.

Yes. The Podcast is better, but the show was okay.

Watched about half so far. Not bad. I agree, you want to shake Connie Britton's character. It's frustrating. Juno Temple apparently has one facial expression. Just one.
IRL, this guy was a complete and total monster.

It was a really good show, but going in knowing that it really happened would probably make it a much better series.

I think that it's more infuriating to watch this woman ruin her family's lives than to hear or read about it.
