that he ever made. Wow,talk about some bizarre shite. It was released in the 50's so I really don't think anyone could quite grasp what exactly was going on.If I didn't know any better I'd say the ole Dr. was doing acid or some other hallucinations during the writing and production.

It would be perfect for a Tim Burton re-make or sequel.

TCM shows it pretty often. I've tried to watch it, but I can't make it through more than a few minutes. A shame, because I love Hans Conried.

Also,Jon Provost (Timmy from Lassie) is very good in it...some great dead pan one-liners as he plays the piano.

Never even heard of it until I saw your post and googled it, and I consider myself a pretty big Seuss fan. Seems pretty interesting, probably won't check it out with the kids though.

Looks like it's on Netflix, and I may have procured some shrooms recently. I think this is pretty serendipitous. Thanks

TBS or TNT made a big deal out of showing it for the first time in decades. Like it was a lost classic or something.

In reality, the premiere in the 50's had people walking out of the theater. There was a reason that it was never shown on TV.

Well, its a COMPLETELY different audience and culture than it was in the 50's.Most MODERN reviews of the movie have been positive. But the movie is definitely not for everybody.

reading more about it, per wiki, Seuss said it was a "debaculous fiasco" and had it omitted from his official biography.

But recent reviews have been pretty kind, the dude was always ahead of his time.

Yep,they said the studio execs "shredded" the movie.

Hans Conrad thought the movie would have propelled him to "A" list status had the studio not hacked it up.
