I wonder if he gave one of these on the way out

quote:

Shearer used Twitter to indicate that he wouldn't be returning in upcoming seasons of the long, long-running cartoon, suggesting that his desire to work on other projects was the reason for the decision. The actor quoted Simpsons writer and producer James L. Brooks' lawyer, who reportedly said that while the "show will go on, Harry will not be part of it."

He's about 15 years too late at realizing how terrible the Simpsons is. Shearer is the tits, doe. Handsome Dan!

He's half the fricking show. How do you not give him whatever he wants? I doubt he's asking for the moon.

Hee makes 7.5 million a year. It's not about the money it's about wanting to do other projects

So many characters I don't know if it would fit in one post. Look on imdb, it's truly epic

They should throw in the towel if that many characters are leaving.

And I hope they don't try to hire replacement voice actors.

Despite what he told the media, it's probably about the money.

He doesn't seem like one of those people. I don't really know of him as a sellout. He and his friends could have cashed in on their Spinal Tap characters a million times over and they haven't done much of that. He seems like the kind of guy who just realizes that the show is creatively at the end of the road and just doesn't want to be part of it anymore.

Possibly. Harry Shearer voices (what seems like) half the characters on the show.

I love The Simpsons, but the show needs to end. As much as it saddens me, it has run its course.

Most of us probably haven't watched a new Sunday night episode of the Simpsons in over 10 years.
