Sounds like they'll explain the horcruxes, since Voldemort said only he could live forever

The excuse givin to cut the battle at the end of HBP was that he didn't want over play "battle scenes" right? But there is going to be an entire movie between these 2 incidents, I don't get it.

Sure, I guess so. I would rather them do this to (hopefully) cover more aspects of the book then to half-arse like they usually do when it comes to Harry Potter.

I of course would rather just sit in a movie theater for 6 hours with an intermission just to be able to watch it all at once.

Yeah, im sure it will be good quality. Guess they didnt want to cut so much from the script.

Also explains why they are doing it for the last movie in the Twilight series

LotR did it right HP has left SO MUCH out of the books but now the finale needs two movies? LotR make 2+ hour movies and even now they are making The Hobbit two parts, fork hollywood for over charching.

For the final novel to be portrayed properly on the big screen, it really did need to be split into two parts. None of the last 300 pages can be omitted, and very little of the first 400 can be either. So we're either looking at a 4 and a half hour long film or a 2 part film.

And yeah, this may be the best theatrical trailer ever released. Its even better than Return of the King's which set a high bar.

You know, I really didn't care for the last movie that much. I thoroughly enjoyed Part 5, but 4 and 6 were pretty subpar to me. I even told my wife that I didn't really care to watch the last films. That I would, but didn't look forward to it. More of an obligation thing because I've invested so much time in the books and movies.

But after seeing that trailer, I am FIRED ALL THE WAY UP!

Not sure on the numbers, but I thought the last one was the best installment since the second one.

Reread the novel. By a long shot the worst adaptation of the novels and it leaves out a ridiculously number of important events that are critical to the final films that I'm not sure how the hell Yates is going to explain it without it being severely forced. Plus Snape was handled horribly in the last one, despite being the titular character.

thats what i kept hearing before i saw it, then when i did i was severely let down at the way they handled it. It was my favorite book and they pretty much ripped it to shreds. Like OLM said, they are gonna have a hard time explaining things without it being forced. I have to admit, i wasnt that excited about the last movies until that trailer and now i'm pumped to see it.

None of the Harry Potter movies have really impressed me, frankly. And this is a dude who loved the series.

This.

My favorite Potter films are 3 (Azkaban) and 5 (Phoenix). The end battle in Phoenix, when Voldemort takes control of Harry and Harry fights him off, it gives me chills thinking about it. A very powerful scene for a "kid" movie.
