Michael Myers was always the scary one for me. Freddy and Jason came off as campy and almost tongue in cheek IMO. MM had the believable sociopath backstory and was the kind of person you could imagine actually coming into your home and killing you. Most slashers have unrealistic or supernatural back stories that don't evoke true terror for me.
And yes I understand Myers survived ridiculous injuries throughout the film series, but the original is a very believable serial killer story.

Jason was stupid even for kids...because big deal, killer in the woods.
When Freddy came out we were like, wait what? Kill in dreams?
The first movie was actually entertainment because it was a unique story, muddled and supernatural.
Jason was just not that interesting.

Yep. If you died in your dreams; you died in real life.
Who would have thunk it? Tripped me out.

Michael Myers has always been a favorite of mine but I can also dig the knife wielding psychopaths from the original Scream movie.

Michael Myers is tGOAT slasher of all time. This fictional character changed the perception of home safety in the 70's.
