I always wish DDL would lighten up for a minute and take a RDJ in Tropic Thunder type of role.

I'd love to see him pull a Gary Oldman and take a Zorg type role.

He was unreal in Bill the Butcher. That one is hard to top.

Nathaniel in Last of the Mohicans has to be one of the most universally liked character ever played.

It's also a struggle throughout, but the last 15 minutes of The Crucible are beyond gripping and gutwrenching.

DDL is the GD man!

My personal favorite is Nathaniel Poe in Mohicans, but I think his best work is Bill the Butcher.

Agreed.

I am admittedly also partial to him as Danny Flynn in The Boxer.

Last of the Mohicans
We watch it about once a month with the 8 year-old in constant motion jumping around couches, chairs and tables as he acts out each scene.

Mohicans is easily my favorite, that movie is just excellent and endlessly rewatchable. But Daniel Plainview is his best performance.

Exactly my thoughts. LOTM is one of my favorite films. Last year I had the chance to visit the waterfall where it was filmed. That was a great moment

This is embarrassing but I don't think of I've seen any movie he's been in.

If DDL takes a legitimately comedic role and pulls it off, then rename Hollywood the "Daniel Day Lewis Performance Arts." Comedy is the toughest genre to pull off. It's a shame that comedies don't get more love from the awards. Anyone can play brooding widower who's wife was brutally murdered in a car accident. Not everyone can play Les Grossman.

Sorry, I'm just getting back to this thread and seeing your question.

It was filmed in Highlands, NC. I don't recall the name of the waterfall there (there a plenty in highlands), but a Google search would turn it up. It was a great vacation if you're into hiking and waterfalls.
