When I think of great opening scenes this is the only one that jumps out at me.

That's not the opening scene of Dirty Harry. The sniper shot of the girl in the rooftop swimming pool is the opening scene.

The graveyard scene?

Yeah, folks Mandela Effect SPR to recall the opening scene is D-Day. It isn't - it's "present day" cemetery, then the whole movie is a flashback.

Then Super Troopers wins.

My vote is Saving Private Ryan

That would be my top vote as well. A close second would be Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time In The West. Great opening scene, great movie !

Sergio Leone was one of the best directors ever in my book:

Fistfull of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
The Good The Bad & The Ugly
Once Upon a Time in the West
Once Upon a Time in America

Saving Private Ryan? You mean the scene w/ the old man and his grandchildren who don't seem to want to be at the cemetery?

Have to add Cool Hand Luke to this list. One of the best movies of all time in my book.

The opening scene is great ! Drunk Luke cutting the heads off of parking meters...

Yeah, I think you are correct, but it’s close enough to the beginning for me; and it is the first introduction of DH.

Anyone who thinks the D-Day scene was the opening scene of the film should re-watch the movie.
