I don't think they are going to actually do anything. Hope not anyway.

His back story does really fit someone who would be gay. No father presence, weird relationship with his mother, etc. but still - WHY DO WE HAVE TO HAVE A GAY STORY LINE IN EVERY SINGLE SHOW?

I doubt it lasts long. With Ed finding a lady it will probably be used as a reason to split Ed and Penguin up.

The gay thing is to show that Penguin is too manic to even know what he wants. Riddler has the laser focus, Penguin has the manic passion for crime. It's also a way to break up their perfect partnership.

Well said.

I figured the gay thing would get this initial negative response but, honestly, it's right up Gotham's alley and I loved it. Ed and Oswald do have chemistry which made this particular story arc feel pretty natural instead of it feeling like forced, SJW crap we have often seen in the past.

The plot point won't last long anyway guys. The show runs at such a fast pace, it'll most likely be resolved and done with by the beginning of the second half of this season.

And if Gotham goes with a "no gays" policy, we lose the Barbara and Tabitha relationship. And I can't do without that.

Thankfully it looks like Ed found a woman.

So this is how people turn gay? Then I'm flaming.

Dude. You have a bisexual actor as your avatar.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm very aware of that. I think it's ignorant and tired to proclaim that those factors have anything to do with actually making you homosexual. If you're gay and go through those things, then yeah, you could have some baggage.

I know gay people from all walks of life and all of them always knew they were gay, they weren't transformed because their daddies didn't give them enough attention.

From a story standpoint, leaving them as a non-sexual duo would allow for more storylines as they began bending Gotham to their wills, which would put them in direct conflict with Jim Gordon and the growing-like-a-fricking-weed Bruce Wayne.

What they'll do now is use this Kringle 2.0 chick to make Penguin feel foolish for having feelings for Ed, thus cheaply creating conflict between the two (will probably have Penguin being jealous of her and thus eventually having some hand in her demise or, at least, harming her).

Granted, this isn't GoT level writing but they are missing out on a more organic creation of conflict by pushing this ridiculousness.

At least it's not the pro-immigrant propaganda we were beaten over the head with on Supergirl this week though.

Yeah I agree. It fits Oswald's background and general mindset, but I feel like they could do without. Does give them an easy way to break up the duo though.

BTW can we acknowledge again how great this show is? The last epsisode was phenomenal with all of the Mad Hatter and Alice references. And we got another episode without even so much as the word "Fish".

I'm far less bothered by this than other shows I've seen. The actor himself is gay and it fits the character.

Anyway, what an episode. And the Mad Hatter is so insanely well cast. He may be my favorite season villain at this juncture.

I can't wait to see Hallucination Babs next week.
