GOT Season 4 Question

So as should be obvious, if you're not up to Seaosn 4, this will be a spoiler. If you are, proceed on. Also, this is being asked from a movie-only perspective so no book spoilers please.
The question is about the Locke dude who infiltrated the Night's Watch and tried to kill Bran. Were we supposed to learn something from that cut he put on Bran's leg? Are they showing us that Bran can heal himself because he didn't bleedout? Do Wog's have that ability or am I overthinking?
It just seemed like an odd thing for a guy to slice him on the leg like that, for them to zoom in on it, and then never address it again.
TIA!

He knew he had no feelings in his legs and was confirming that he was in fact who he said he was...at least that's how I perceived it.

He knew Brandin stark was a cripple, and he cut his leg to see he couldn't feel it and discover who he was
And it wasn't a really big cut. He wouldn't bleed out from that

This. It was a minor detail rather than some secret reveal for another part of the plot.

It was symbolic.
Even though his legs are dead, they will heal.

Won't be any spoilers since Locke isn't in the book, so was you saw is what every one knows.
Locke was a semi stand in character for the guy(Varo Hoat) that cut off Jamie's hand. Was killed by the Mountain back at Harrenhal.

It just seemed close to that main artery so I didn't know.
