No need to be a douche man. I thought this was everyone at their best? Drogo may have used daggers in the show at one point but in a battle tournament which do you think he would use? Daggers or his arakh?

The lack of respect Barriston Selmy and Loras Tyrell is criminal.

Selmy at 50+ couldn't keep up with the top 7 seeds minus Brienne and Mag because he doesn't even belong in this.

Loras Tyrell
This dude must be a some kind of super beast in the books for people to keep hyping him up.

On the show, he gets dominated by Brienne of Tarth. He lances the Mountain in a joust competition but when Mountain gets off his horse to kick his arse, he was totally helpless and had to be saved by the hound.

So we saw him smash a bunch of extras in a battle scene. Every semi-competant fighting regular character has done that. What am I missing about this Flower Knight that makes him such an alleged badass?

In the books he was regarded as one of the best swordsman in the 7 kingdoms, the concensus was he's basically a young Jaime or even better. It also seemed pretty much accepted he was the best with a horse and Lance, which was confirmed when he beat the Mountain

Just disagree about that. At 50, hes still a top 5 swordsman.

Loras Tyrell is regarded as the best swordsman in the realm. And not just in the books either. Season 2, before Robb attacks the Lannister Army at night, Lannister soldiers are talking about who would win and all that and even they said Loras Tyrell is the best swordsman in the realm.

And why do we give Jaime a pass when he only has 1 hand now? If you can go back to Jaime in his prime, you should be able to do that with other characters in the show as well.

Why have we glossed over this?

What has been glossed over is the badassness of Drogo since he died so long ago. People forget. The dude lived a life of constant combat and utter savagery and never lost.

But oh fricking no, Jaime won a tournament at age 15, I'm so wet!!

At age 15 Drogo was fricking the dead skulls of the warriors he slaughtered.

Jaime was a feared knight. He'd never been touched in battle. Think about that.

Brienne beat his arse to submission in Renly's tourney.

Drogo is badass no doubt (ie: ripping out that bro's throat like it was nothing), and is especially deadly on horseback. However as Jorah shows the Dothraki don't wear armor which would make him extremely vulnerable in one on one combat with probably the best living swordsman in Westeros.

It would end something like this:

Are you talking about this?
quote:

Before the Battle of Oxcross two Lannister sentries are debating who is the greatest swordsman in Westeros. They bring up Ser Gregor Clegane and Ser Jaime Lannister, but when one of them offers Loras Tyrell as a possibility, the other says that Loras Tyrell is not a great swordsman, as he has been stabbing Renly for years and Renly isn't dead.

That doesn't mean much, IMO. All of the Dothraki live a life of combat and savagery, and it didn't stop Jorah Mormont from killing Drogo's main bloodrider.

Jamie's reputation in the Seven Kingdoms is established. I think he takes Drogo.

Drogo was a feared warlord who led by force of violence.

Jaime nearly lost to a wounded Ned Stark.
